Celebrating 30 years of Sylvanian Families with some of their fantastic range

All of our children adore Sylvanian Families and it is one of my favourite toys too – the detail is amazing, the characters adorable and the level of imagination is so high. They are celebrating 30 years in the UK in 2017 and there are few toys which have stood the test of time as well as they have. I think part of their appeal is how gorgeous the toys are – they really are the kind that you don’t mind having out on display.

The range is huge and features houses, shops, vehicles and numerous woodland creatures. We tried out some of their ‘outdoor’ range which was packed full of character and something that the children haven’t stopped playing with since we received it.

We started with the chocolate rabbit family and put them to work in the brilliant Hot Dog van, which is packed with lots of detailed play items. There’s an outfit for one of the rabbits to cook up delicious snacks for the rest of the bunnies,

You can put together your own hot dogs for your waiting customers and also on sale are rabbit-shaped waffles, pretzels, buns and snacks. My absolute favourite are the hot dogs smothered in mustard! I love that the set comes with mini ketchup and mustard bottles. I think that the fine detail in their toys is one of the reasons that Sylvanian Families have retained their popularity for so long.

After their lunch the rabbits are heading off in their convertible to play at the Sylvanian Families Adventure Treasure Ship complete with slides and hidden secret panels!

My daughter loves how easy it is to make a game with all the characters from the family in any of the sets. This ship comes with a host of exciting extras such as a treasure chest, a golden crown, swings and a climbing net. For budding explorers there’s a crow’s nest for the youngest to climb up too as well!

The sets are all brilliantly designed to give children a sense of fun and adventure and to help them devise their own games and free play.

What better way to end your day of play than at the Seaside Ice Cream Shop. This set comes complete with the Striped Cat mother who is hard at work in the shop in her uniform. There’s ice cream galore across the store and lots of different flavours!

One of the joys of Sylvanian Families is putting together the sets and seeing them come to life. Like a doll’s house, the fun elements of play are all in the little pieces which go to bring the games to life.

With the rabbit family visiting there’s plenty of space for them all, with tables and chairs and even a see-saw sofa it’s the perfect way for the little buns to cool off!

It’s brilliant to see that the Sylvanian Families have grown and grown over the past three decades and they still offer fun and exciting ways for children to play. Happy birthday to the Sylvanian Families!

Ahh what a milestone! My daughter has loads of Sylvanian Family sets, I’ll be sad the day she decides she’s outgrown them.

Oh wow 30 years! I have to admit I never owned any of their toys as a child…and I am yet to introduce my girls to them. Think my youngest would like them

My girls liked Sylvanians, but sadly they did outgrow them pretty fast. Completely agree that we loved the level of detail.

I was too old for Syvanians and the boys didn’t like them. Boohoo

My son loved playing with them for a bit, but I’m afraid he eventually decided they were too girly. I love the detailing though.

Ah that’s a shame Erica – my boys love playing with them!
