As excitement builds around the latest Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, we can’t wait to see what is next around the corner for Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians. The new film promises thrills and laughs as old enemies become allies and the galaxy needs saving once again.
We were delighted to see the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 ready to take on some brand new adventures thanks to three new excellent sets from LEGO. Here’s our round up of the sets and all that you can expect from LEGO’s latest collections (including an appearance by Baby Groot!)
LEGO Guardians of The Galaxy Faceoff, Vol.2, The Milano vs Abilisk 76081
The largest set in the collection sees our heros facing the terrible Abilisk monster as they urgently hunt for the annulax batteries. As this is the biggest set, it also comes with the most figures including Star-Lord, Gamora and Drax. There’s also Nebula and completing the figures there’s a brilliant Groot character too.
In order to take on the Abilisk our heroes have brought along the Milano spaceship to do battle.
The Milano has moveable wings and an opening cockpit with space for four minifigures and I love that they all fit in the spaceship. The ship also includes LEGO stud shooters and can drop its bombs in order to take on the Abilisk’s tentacles and opening mouth!
We also love that Star-Lord can get into action with his trusty jetpack too as he tries to retrieve the Annulax batteries.
LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy 76080 “Ayesha’s Revenge”
This set is a great mid-range collection in the new series and includes three brand new mini figures with Star-Lord, Yondu and Ayesha…and a mini (mini!) Groot figure complete with a ravager decoration.
Ayesha’s Golden Drone spaceship is the main vehicle in the pack and comes with adjustable arms so she can fly into battle or change to ultra-speed mode for a quick getaway. There’s also Yondu’s Laser Drill ship with features spring loaded missiles, a cock-pit which slides open and there’s also panels which open at the side. Can Star-Lord and Yondu win this battle and explode the LEGO cliff she’s standing on, or is Ayesha going to be victorious in her revenge?
The set also includes Star Lord’s two blasters, his jetpack, Ayesha’s remote control, and Yondu’s golden arrow along with a wrench, Annulax battery and a fire extinguisher….
LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 76079 ‘Ravager Attack’
With the Milano out of action after a crash landing Rocket and Mantis are in trouble! My eldest loved the Rocket figure so much and it’s certainly quite endearing.
Our two heroes have to find a way to defeat the third character in this set, the evil Taserface who’s chasing them in his M-ship.
The set comes with a buildable tree to help hide our two heroes while they work on a LEGO stud shooter to help defend themselves.
Along with all the space vehicles there are also special weapons for Taserface and Rocket. These sets really go the extra mile with their figures and it’s great to see how LEGO has captured the fun and fantasy elements of the new film in their Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 LEGO sets.
