Kranjska Gora sits at the North-West corner of Slovenia, within touching distance of Austria and the furthest corners of Italy. As a ski resort its wonderfully self-contained with everything a family could possible want within easy reach, yet it’s not hard to be reminded of the countries around you with even a day trip to Venice a possibility for those who want to go exploring.
We visited this lovely little town as part of our ski trip to Slovenia with Crystal Ski and it was a real delight to come across another reminder of Italy at the Pizzeria Via Napoli on the outskirts of the town centre complete with its own wood fired pizza oven and delicious Italian themed dishes.
The restaurant is tucked into the front of the town’s Ramada Hotel and Suites and it was great to sit and watch the world go by as we eyed up delightful piping hot pizzas, and it was lovely to know that there were spelt and gluten-free bases available too.
We picked out some classic margarita pizzas for our children which were perfect and just right for them after several hours on the ski slopes.
My oldest picked out a perfectly sized spaghetti dish, which he loved and suited him down to the ground.
There was also an opportunity to try out some Slovenian dishes including this štruklji – a sort of savoury swiss roll filled with a local cottage cheese,
And I chose a four cheese which came with a plentiful supply of rocket!
There’s a whole range of fresh desserts available too which ranged from tasty cheesecakes,
To desserts which my children’s eyes boggled at, and despite saying that they could absolutely polish them off, they were defeated by their sheer size!
We loved the welcome we got at the Pizzeria Via Napoli which had something for everyone after a busy day on the ski slopes. You can find out more about the restaurant at the Ramada website.
