One of the latest additions to the growing collections of restaurants in Albufeira has an enviable view and a strong roster of burgers.
The Pérgula Restaurant has taken a prime spot in the impressive Grande Real Santa Eulália resort overlooking the golden sandy beach with views out across the Atlantic.
Arriving at the hotel we loved the welcome we received and the chilled atmosphere set the mood for the evening which even though it was still February was still warm as evening fell.
The restaurant has a strong selection of gourmet burgers on offer and there’s an unmistakable Portuguese twist (with one of the burgers even being called ‘The Portuguese’!) and plenty of flavours inspired by the region’s traditional dishes.
We started with a tasty sharing plate of nachos topped with cheese and leeks with a guacamole and tomato salsa, which while not particularly large was a good start to the evening.
In total there are thirteen burgers to choose from, including variations on surf and turf with the Santa Eulália, a beef burger topped with tiger prawns, and a tasty vegetarian option with a breaded burger packed with cauliflower, broccoli and a host of other veggies.
All of the burgers we tried from the range were tasty and hot with a great mix of flavours. They were perfectly filling as a main course and the chunky fries were also generous and delicious.
It was great to find a substantial veggie burger on the menu.
Alongside the burgers are a reasonable selection of risottos, salads and tagliatelle too.
It was a little disappointing to not see more choice on the children’s menu which had only a beef or chicken burger or a perfectly reasonable spaghetti bolognese, and with such a small selection our children wanted a taste of the some of the more adventurous burgers including the salmon burger with chives and a lemon and cream sauce, or the codfish burger with garlic, egg and coriander.
There was a true local flavour to the dessert dishes too with a daily selection to pick from. We had to try the traditional morgado, a sweet and tasty cake made with almonds and figs which went perfectly with a well presented lemon sorbet.
And the children tucked into one of the many flavours of ice creams and sorbets on offer including this mango dessert which went down a treat.
If you’re looking to find a burger restaurant in the Algarve which provides a touch of class and a host of local flavours there’s a good deal to like at the Pérgula Restaurant, where the food and views complement each other perfectly.

We were guests of the Pérgula Restaurant for the purpose of this review but our views are our own.
