A recipe vegan liquorice hot chocolate / licorice hot chocolate.
The colder months for me are all about staying cheery and warm and keeping the winter blues at bay.
I’ve written lots about this and how I find it difficult to keep my spirits up. And after our winter trip to Denmark with kids I came away with some great tips to keep me smiling.
After that trip we started making this delicious drink that combines two great Danish qualities. Their enjoyment of rich, creamy hot chocolates and their love of spicy, warming liquorice. What’s more this liquorice hot chocolate is super easy to make.
Delicious liquorice hot chocolate – rich, spicy and warming (with a vegan version too)
Our lovely Danish friends we visit as often as can introduced us to the wonderful world of Lakrids Liquorice. And it is perfect for this recipe as they produce powdered liquorice. This works so well with this rich and creamy hot chocolate.
My favourite liquorice hot chocolate is the vegan version as I adore the almond milk which is creamy and tasty. But it works just as well as a dairy version with cream squirted like a tumbling volcano on top which my kids adore.
Whether you’re using almond milk or the dairy version the key is to not let it burn. Gently heat it through, stirring in all of the ingredients until they combine.
This will create this rich, indulgent liquorice hot chocolate that is the perfect winter warmer.
This recipe can be adapted for a dairy or vegan version of this spicy, liquorice hot chocolate.
