On our skiing trip to Flaine with Crystal Ski we stayed at Le Panoramic, family accommodation at the heart of all the action. Flaine is the perfect destination for a ski trip and we were really pleased to stay somewhere that made visiting the slopes and the ski school really easy.
Le Panoramic, Flaine, France – Hotel and Location:
Le Panoramic is situated in Flaine Forêt, in the upper level of the town and at the far end, as close to the Grand Vans lift and beginner slopes as it’s possible to get. It’s an ideal location, particularly if you have young children and need to walk with all of their snow gear to lessons as it only takes 5 minutes to get there. It’s an easy ten minute walk down hill to Flaine Forum or the free-to-use gondola is close by to take you down instead. It’s a nicely sized hotel full of self-catering apartments of varying sizes from one bedroom upwards.
Le Panoramic, Flaine, France – Sleeps:
We stayed in one of Le Panoramic’s three bedroom apartments which sleep 8 so was perfect for our family of five. The accommodation had a main living area with seats and television, a dining area and then a kitchen.
The kitchen was really well equipped with all the utensils we could need for our weeks stay (except a kettle which we have found is usually omitted in this area of France), a two ring hob, microwave and dishwasher. It would have been nice to have had a little starter kit of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, soap etc but there was plenty of equipment and suited us perfectly for our week in Flaine.
The living area opened up onto a nice sized balcony which was too cold to sit out on when we were there but I imagine would be lovely in spring and summer.
We had two good sized bedrooms, one double and one twin.
The double bedroom had an en suite bathroom with walk in shower.
We also had another bathroom with bathtub.
There was a sweet little bunk bed area which my eleven year old really liked, it was his little den to hang out and read his books when we were relaxing after time on the slopes.
It was a really good space for a family to relax and enjoy. The sofa bed in the lounge could also accommodate two more guests but I feel it was the perfect size for our family of 5 without feeling too squashed in.
Le Panoramic, Flaine, France – The Best Bits:
We thought the location of Le panoramic was brilliant, so close to the ski runs and just a couple of minutes walk to the kids skiing clubs so perfect for them to get up for a nice hot breakfast in the room before heading out to hit the slopes.
The hotel was really geared up for skiing with a boot room just off reception on the ground floor which was really handy to store our skis and boots and which then led straight on to the runs.
It was also useful that there was a laundry room the guests could use.
Le Panoramic, Flaine, France – Worth Bearing in Mind:
It’s worth noting that Saturday’s at Le Panoramic can be incredibly busy in high season which may mean long queues. We weren’t able to get in to our room until after 5pm which seems fairly usual for the hotel so be prepared to not be able to get in as soon as you arrive.
Reception closes at 10pm so do check with them for any problems you have before they close up.
Le Panoramic, Flaine, France – Child Friendly?
This is definitely a family friendly hotel. As well as a wonderful space for us all to relax in there is also the addition of a heated indoor swimming pool which was perfect for the kids.
