The best family resorts Algarve – Dona Filipa Hotel

Set in the wonderful Vale do Lobo area of the Algarve the Dona Filipa Hotel is a beautiful gem by the sea.
With large family rooms along with interconnecting rooms there is plenty of space for families.
There are lots of facilities here from tennis to golf and a great kids club too. Children will love spending time in the pool and the beach is a five minute walk away with a private area complete with sun loungers for Dona Filipa guests.

Around twenty minutes from Albufeira this resort has a wonderful feel about it. Almost like a collection of small villages than a hotel.
When you think of idyllic Algarve family holidays for me I think of Pine Cliffs.
It has everything the family needs for a comfortable stay including a wide variety of accommodation.
We stayed in one of their two bedroom family suites which was perfect for our family of five. And also had a small kitchen meaning we could cook up our own meals if we wanted to.
The leisure facilities here are fantastic with both indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts and a kids club. There’s also a wonderful pirate ship themed adventure playground.
With direct access through the cliffs down to a golden beach this is one of the best resorts in the Algarve for families and our top pick.

Vale do Lobo is an Algarve family resort that will have your kids wanting to come back year after year.
There are great facilities here including tennis courts, swimming pools and golf. There’s a whole selection of different types of accommodation including villas with private pools.
You have all the benefits of a resort though with amazing on site restaurants, a kids club and a mini bus service to take you around the grounds.
There is a beautiful sandy beach here making it one of the best Algarve family hotels. This is a real gem in every season.

This is a really sweet resort with lots of onsite facilities giving visitors plenty of opportunities for fun (and at just 15 – 20 minutes from Faro Airport it’s very convenient too).
There’s great indoor and outdoor swimming pools here but plenty of the villas in the complex also have their own private pools.
There’s a kids club, an onsite restaurant and bikes to hire so you can cycle to the close-by Ria Formosa which we loved.
Four Seasons Fairways is a great hotel for family holidays to the Algarve.

There’s lots going on at Vila Vita Parc for families including an extensive child-friendly programme of activities.
There is something here for all ages up to and including teenagers and they have great family inclusive activities like group yoga sessions.
There are villas as well as family suites making it one of the best family resorts in Algarve.

This is a fantastic resort for families with lots of amenities including swimming pools, golf course and tennis courts.
It’s just a few minutes walk to the beach and all the apartments here have large terraces, gardens and/or their own private pool.
Set in the lovely Quinta do Lago this is one of the best family hotels Algarve style.

The Grande Real Hotel is a resort hotel just across from Santa Eulália beach. It has private beach access and is an easy walk to a number of great restaurants.
There’s a spa and kids club and some great pools along with a shuttle bus service into the town.
The breakfast buffet here is fantastic and a great way to get set up for a day. One of the great family resorts in Algarve, Portugal.

If you’re looking for an all-inclusive Algarve hotel then the Riu Guarana could well be for you.
This resort is around a 15 minute walk from the Praia da Falesia beach and has numerous pools. There’s also kids clubs for four year olds up to teenagers.
With evening entertainment and lots of different cuisine on offer this is a great place to come to and really relax and if you’d like to not need to leave for your holiday.Â

Martinhal is often held up as being one of the best family resorts in the Algarve and it is a beautiful setting.
Right on the beach just outside of Sagres it provides lots of activities for all ages.
