It’s nestled in the northern end of this wonderful, picturesque island and it feels like a fantastic secret.

The sand here is particularly golden, the sea gently laps the shore and the great, twisted branches are ideal to stop and rest a while on, or to clamber over, particularly if you are visiting with kids. Driftwood Beach Georgia is a special place and if you’re visiting Jekyll Island Driftwood Beach should be your number one stop as, like us, you will want to visit more than once. Visiting Driftwood Beach Jekyll Island, Georgia
There’s something very magical about this beach. Avenues lined with Spanish Moss give way to this stretch of sand that feels quiet and secluded.
The whole beach is scattered with fallen trees. What was once a forest now lies entwined across the sand.
It really is eerily beautiful.
Visit at different times of day for varying perspectives on the landscape.
We found a Horseshoe Crab on the sand here, a creature which has been around since the dinosaurs, and which only added to the otherworldliness of this landscape.
It’s somewhere to come and forage, to have picnics, to build sandcastles, to walk on the beach and to enjoy. It really is a stunning piece of shoreline.

How to get to Driftwood Beach Jekyll Island
The beach is situated at the north of the island. If you’re looking for exactly where is driftwood beach on Jekyll Island then head for N. Beachview Drive.
Look for Villas by the Sea Resort on the right of the road and Driftwood Beach is immediately afterwards.
Where to park for Driftwood Beach
You can park just off of N. Beachview Drive, at the points where you can enter to the beach.
You can also park on N. Beachview Drive near the bike path bridge which is a short walk from the beach.
There’s no charge for any parking but there is the usual charge to get on to Jekyll Island (check the current charge here).
Is Driftwood Beach dog friendly / are dogs allowed on Driftwood Beach?
The beach does welcome dogs but asks that animals are kept under immediate control and on a leash no longer than 16′ at all times.
