Waking up to the sound of the Monsoon rains and a whole choir of birds filling the air with the most beautiful song. Wandering through small towns and villages and soaking up the unmistakable Portuguese vibe of this area of India. Eating delicious Goan specialties and trying delicious food whenever you want it. The children cooling off in the pools while we enjoyed spa treatments and all of us really relaxing and rejuvenating in the most tranquil of settings. This is Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera, and we enjoyed all of this and so much more. It’s a really special place, hidden away and perfect for an insight into another side of this beautiful region of India.

We stayed in many different places on our family trip to India and Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera was one of our favourites.

It felt like such an exclusive, beautiful place. Just 15 rooms in different configurations, all designed around a pool and surrounded by lush local plants.

To pull back the curtains to the greenery outside was just such a treat. It really was unlike anywhere else we stayed.

The backwaters of the Moira River run past and it is just teeming with wildlife, particularly birds who fill the air with unbelievably beautiful song.

Location

Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera is set in northern Goa, just under an hour from the main Goa airport.

The local village is Moira and the hotel organise excursions out to explore the local area from walks through the countryside, drives through the backwaters and discoveries of local artisans.

We loved the Storii teller – someone based at the hotel who can bring the area alive for guests. You can organize meetings and trips out where they can explain little details of this area from the use of shells over the windows to the meaning of various carved figures on the houses.

I was worried the resort might feel full of insects because of its location, but although we obviously saw a few different types there were no more than any of our other stays across India.

There is a lovely Portuguese look to the resort and the architecture just adds to the whole experience here.

Sleeps

We stayed in two of Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera cottages. These were absolutely gorgeous spaces, so well designed and with lovely details.

Each had a main bedroom with four poster bed. In the children’s room they brought in an extra bed and also made up a bed on the window seat.

The space was large and airy with huge ceiling with a fan above (there was also air conditioning).

The cottage was filled with large windows to allow the location to spill into the property and to really enjoy the outside environment.

There was a really large bathroom with everything we needed in terms of amenities and space. I adored the tiles on the floor.

As well as a fantastic rainforest shower inside there was also an outside shower. This was next to the private plunge pool each of the cottages had.

This was such a great space for us all to relax into. It really was light and airy and full of wonderful interior touches.

Food at Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera

For a small resort there is still a bistro and lounge restaurant at Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera as well as the option of room service.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served until 10.30 in the main restaurant. There is also the option of the hotel’s “Breakfast ATM” which is where you can have breakfast at any time you like in your room.

We had breakfast in the main restaurant which had some pastries and fruit, cereal and toast. You could order a number of hot dishes including my favourite, masala dosas and eggs cooked how you like.

It’s not the largest selection but there’s a good number of dishes that can be ordered.

Lunch

We also enjoyed lunch in the main restaurant. They have a tiffin style Storii lunch which consists of lots of local Goan dishes which we really enjoyed.

We also ordered from their in-room dinning menu and loved the chilli cheese toast and the pander tikka kebab. The 16 year old really enjoyed his favourite dish of fish and chips.

Dinner

We really enjoyed dinner in the Bistro which had some Indian staples like makhani lentils and a delicious tikka paneer. They were great at accommodating the youngest two kids too and bringing them some pasta in a tomato sauce.

We found all the food to be of a really high standard. Tasty and full of flavour.

The facilities at Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera

For a small resort there are some great facilities here.

In the centre of the resort is a beautiful swimming pool which we all loved. There are seats all around and it’s the perfect place to relax.

There is also a spa at XXX and I loved my facial here. It was relaxing and rejuvenating and my skin was glowing afterwards.

Staff are fantastic at suggesting and helping to organise excursions out from bird watching trips to the local market.

What we thought of Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera

Storii by ITC Hotels Moira Riviera is a small, intimate resort which feels like a very special secret. It’s a real insight into northern Goan life and a fantastic place to relax.

We loved our time here, feeling surrounded by the beautiful environment and in the most amazing accommodation. It’s the perfect location to stop for a few days and really relax.
