There are so many amazing activities and things to do in this wonderful country with kids. Some of our favourites are –

  • Explore Knossos, one of Europe’s oldest cities
  • Enjoy the blue and white architecture of Santorini
  • Immerse yourselves in the history at the Acropolis
  • Scramble up to Lindos Acropolis
  • Eat Loukoumades– delicious Greek doughnuts drenched in honey

The best place to go in Greece with kids

Greece has something for everyone. Whether you want to enjoy stunning beaches with crystal clear waters, explore the Greek myths in their homes or find out more about ancient civilisations.

If you want to try all the food or buy gorgeous handicrafts, Greece has it all and for a family holiday it’s hard to beat.

Athens – Greece with kids

Athens is a great city for a visit with kids.

There’s the obvious history here with the Acropolis and Parthenon but don’t miss the chance to see some of the more modern Museum of Illusions and Allou! Fun Park.

Mainland Greece

Mainland Greece has amazing archeological sights at every turn.

Try Delphi, Thessaloniki, Olympia and Ioannina for some of the top places to visit in Greece with kids.

Saronic Islands

Close to Athens and so easily visited from Piraeus port the Saronic Islands are beautiful.

The inhabited islands are Aegina, Agistri, Dokos, Hydra, Poros, Salamina and Spetses.

Northern Sporades – Greece with kids

The northern Sporades are situated in the northwest Aegean Sea with Alonnisos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Skyros being inhabited.

These islands have beautiful beaches and are great for snorkelling.

Ionian Islands

The Ionian Islands are in the west coast of Greece in the Ionian Sea.

The seven inhabited islands are Corfu, Ithaki, Kefalonia, Kythira, Lefkada, Paxi and Zakynthos

Dodecanese Islands – Greece with kids

The Dodecanese Islands are based in the southeastern Aegean Sea.

The inhabited islands here are Astypalaia, Kalymnos, Karpathos, Kasos, Kastellorizo, Kos, Leros, Nisyros, Patmos, Rhodos, Symi and Tilos.

Aegean Islands

The Aegean Islands consist of Agios Efstratios, Chios, Ikaria, Lesbos, Lemno,s Oinousses and Pasas, Psara and Antipsara, Samos and Samiopoula, Fournoi Korseon, Samothraki and Thasos.

They are situated in the Aegean Sea and mainland Greece is to the west and above them and Turkey is to the east.

The Cyclades

The Cyclades are a very large group of islands, 220 in total. The main islands here are Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Donoussa, Folegandros, Gyaros, Ios, Iraklia, Kea, Keros, Kimolos, Koufonisia, Kythnos, Makronissos, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Polyaigos, Santorini, Schoinoussa, Serifos, Sifnos, Sikinos, Syros, Therasia and Tinos.

Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Packed full of wonderful beaches, towns to explore and attractions, not to mention the history and wonderful cultural sites. Perfect for a Greek family holiday.
