We are big LEGO fans and are lucky enough to have visited LEGOLAND Windsor a few times along with LEGOLAND Florida and LEGOLAND Dubai. Our family have also been to LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark, the original of the parks three times now, we love it there. We have rounded up our 20 Top Tips for visiting LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark to ensure you have the most successful, happiest time.

1. Book in advance

2. Get special offers
Download the LEGOLAND Billund app here to plan your day, find out about ride times and get special offers. You can easily download apps, check ticket details or make calls, by using an e-sim while you’re abroad. It’s a great way to keep in touch with family and friends and means you’re always connected.
3. Skip the lines
It’s not cheap but if you want to really maximise your day and know you’ll be travelling at peak times consider investing in a Q-Bot to help you skip lines at some of the busiest rides. Find out more here.
4. Plan which day you will visit
Saturdays are a good day to visit. This is often the day that families change over in the accommodation, either leave or arrive and so the park isn’t at it’s busiest. The busiest days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
5. Wrist bands
When you arrive take one of the free wrist bands for kids. You can add your phone number in case they wander off.
6. Use the picnic areas
Food isn’t cheap at LEGOLAND Billund so consider taking a picnic. You can make use of the many picnic areas dotted around the park.

Measure your child’s height in advance so you can check which rides they are allowed on and plan your day.
8. Find the cinema times early
If you want to see one of the 3D or 4D films and would like it to be in English make sure you check out the times early on to plan around it. Some shows are in Danish and others in English.
9. Take a pushchair
If your child is young then consider take a pushchair with you. It’s a whole day walking around which can really take its toll.
There is somewhere to hire them if you forget or are travelling without one.
10. Make use of the last 30 minutes
The last 30 minutes can be a great time to hit those big rides that normally have long queues. These often empty out towards the end of the day so this can be a really good time to take advantage of it.

Watch out for the closing times of rides. Even though the park may close at one time, say 5.30, the rides will finish earlier, for example at 5pm. So if you’re saving one last ride make sure you get there in time.
12. Beware of getting a soaking!
There aren’t many places to get really wet at LEGOLAND Billund but there are a few rides where you can have a fun soaking.
If you want to do this then plan it for the end of the day if there’s still a chill in the air as you can end up feeling so wet and cold if you do it at the start. Or plan ahead with a towel or change of clothes.

Make sure you pick up at a park map at the entrance to LEGOLAND Billund so you can plan your day. Or quickly find your way around.
14. Organise your souvenir shopping
If your kids want to buy souvenirs and you have a few days at the park then do your research.
We found items such as MiniFigures to be cheaper to buy at the LEGO House shop which you don’t need a ticket to get in to.
15. Don’t be too ambitious
Don’t think you can do everything in one day. It really is impossible. And even though LEGOLAND in Denmark isn’t the largest of the parks it’s still too big to do it all.
Be realistic about what you want to achieve. Pick out the rides that are most important to you and try to enjoy the other bits of Legoland along the way such as the brilliant Miniland.
16. Stay nearby – Tips for visiting LEGOLAND Billund
Consider staying on site if your budget allows. Either at the original LEGOLAND Hotel or the amazing LEGOLAND Castle Hotel as both will often give you tickets to the park as part of your stay, parking and also a chance to get in to the park an hour before the general public.
It also gives you somewhere to retreat to have lunch and just rest weary legs for a while.
17. Organise your car parking
If you’re parking at the main carpark pay for your parking when you arrive. This avoids the long queues to pay at the end and that way you can exit quickly before some of the crowds.
18. Start backwards – Tips for visiting LEGOLAND Billund
Start at the back of the park as most people enter the park and start going on rides as soon as they see them.
Head for Ninjago land or some of the big rollercoasters if that’s what you’re in to and work your way forwards to avoid some of the crowds.
19. Reserve the car driving slot
If your children would be interested in the car driving and getting the licence then make sure you get there early to get a reservation. As these sell out.
Reserve your time slot for later in the day and return when it’s time.

If you’re visiting LEGOLAND Billund in the summer then go as late in the season as you can. Danish children usually go back to school towards the end of August so it will be much quieter but usually still with beautiful weather.
