Our trips to Denmark are some of our favourite. It’s a part of the world that we love and is so family friendly. So we jumped at the opportunity to take a visit to the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel Billund, Denmark. We visited for a weekend in Jutland to explore a little bit more of the area, take in the LEGO House, LEGOLAND Billund park itself and of course the Castle Hotel. It was wonderful to fly in direct to the Billund airport and start relaxing and having fun.

About the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel Billund, Denmark
The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is a fairly new offering for the LEGOLAND park in Denmark. It’s a fantastic looking hotel, it’s so impressive as you approach it with a really large, imposing castle feel.
There are characters throughout the grounds including a dragon and a knight on horseback all of which have fantastic sound effects.
There are two buildings, a Wizard Castle and a Knight’s Castle.
The latter is where all of the main facilities are, including the restaurant, and that is where we stayed.
The Knight’s room at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, Billund – Sleeps
In total there are 142 rooms at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel. These consist of rooms in the princess’s royal chambers, the dragon knight’s living room or the wizard’s magical observatory.
We stayed in the Knight’s living room which was an absolutely fantastic space. So airy and roomy for our family of five which is really unusual in hotels like this.
We had a main bedroom area which was wonderfully themed with dragons on the walls, LEGO figures and a great castle theme. I loved how the carpet was made to look like wooden floorboards and there was even a trap door.
The bed was really comfortable with a big red LEGO dragon smiling down on us from the plinth above.
It was slightly odd to wake up to find yourself face to face with a larger than life LEGO knight smiling down at you, but was really good fun.
There were two chairs in the bedroom and a large chaise longue which looked like it would convert to another bed if you needed it to. It was great for relaxing on during the day.
We had a television, loads of sockets and plenty of space in the main bedroom area to relax between trips out to the main sights.
Down the small hallway was the children’s area which consisted of four bunk beds, perfect for larger families.
The children had their own television here and also a tub of LEGO to play with to their heart’s content which was a nice touch.
The bathroom had a great shower, sadly no bath but was a really good size nonetheless.
We thought the space in the room was fantastic, especially for a family like ours with three children who often just aren’t catered for, it’s normally just two child families so this was great to see.
Eating at the Castle Hotel at LEGOLAND in Denmark:
Breakfast
We ate breakfast each day in the main restaurant. There were two sittings each morning, either 7.45 – 8.30 or 9 – 10.
It was a fairly busy breakfast service with a number of queues to get food.
It did all move fairly quickly though and we were able to get coffee, juices, rolls and pastries.
There was a hot buffet of eggs and beans, sausages and bacon and you could pick up cheeses and fruit. It was a good selection and definitely set us up well for the day.
Dinner
We also ate dinner in the restaurant on one of the evenings which I was a little sceptical of as it was an all you can eat buffet but actually the food was great.
There were platters of tapas style starters that were brought to each table along with a basket of bread.
Then you could help yourself to a big selection of hot and cold food including salads, burgers (as well as a great veggie burger), freshly made and cooked pizzas and lots of other dishes such as chicken and fish.
We thought it was a great standard, typical of Denmark really and we ate so well.
Watch out though, large drinks really are very large.
There is a small play area in the restaurant which is really nice for the children to go off and enjoy the boxes of LEGO while we sat with a drink and relaxed.
The Best Bits
If you have kids who love LEGO then this hotel is for you.
It is such a fun hotel and really well themed throughout. There’s LEGO everywhere from the rooms to a big play area in reception where the children can play every time you head there.
Hallways have fun LEGO lanterns outside and the staircase with it’s LEGO chandeliers complete with LEGO rats is just brilliant.
Outside there is a great castle playground which is perfect for letting children burn off any energy they have left over from trips out to the main parks or further afield.
Worth Bearing in Mind:
This is a great, family friendly hotel and no sneaky hidden extras.
The hotel is brilliant at offering child free places and also early access to the LEGOLAND park which is well worth taking advantage of.
The Castle Hotel at LEGOLAND – Child Friendly?
This hotel couldn’t be any more child friendly if it tried. So much thought has gone in to it and it’s playful and fun and a kid’s dream.
All the little touches around the building and rooms, from little things to spot in the wall pictures to competitions in the lobby for designing the LEGO structure of the day, make this a big hit with children of all ages.
There is LEGO everywhere and it’s a really immersive experience with characters turning up at breakfast and dinner and a really great castle theme wherever you go.
This is such a great choice for where to stay near LEGOLAND in Billund, making it easy to get in to the park and pop back when little legs get weary. We all really hope to return soon.

Firstly those rooms are amazing! I love how they have done some simple but effective things like putting in a few different coloured tiles in the shower to make it look like lego. That’s genius. It looks fantastically child friendly too. My son is now 22 but used to be obsessed with Lego. in fact he still has a huge collection. I think he’d love a stay here lol
OMG, how gorgeous is the castle hotel and all legos has me wanting to book for me and my nephew. He would definitely love to be somewhere like this and the food design is just so cute.
This looks like such an amazing hotel. Jack would love to visit, he’s obsessed with LEGO and LEGOLAND UK so would definitely like to head abroad too!
My husband and son are huge LEGO fans so this would be right up their street. Although, to be fair, I think the rest of us would enjoy it too
Ah this looks like such a fab place! I love all the little details like the shower tiles and the lego shaped chips! They’ve really put out all the stops!
Woweee! That’s some impressive hotel! What a fantastic experience and I bet there was so much to see and do! We love Lego but have never visited Denmark.
I had no idea there was a LEGOLAND in Denamark, or a LEGOLAND Hotel. It looks so much fun, my niece and nephew would love it here!
