Spending Easter in the Algarve in Portugal is always a delight with plenty of sunshine, blooms of spring flowers colouring every turn and plenty going on for families to enjoy. We spent our Easter this year at Four Seasons Fairways, the perfect place to escape an unseasonable cold snap in the UK and rest and relax here as part of our trip through Spain and Portugal.

Four Seasons Fairways is the sweetest resort, with so much going on for all the family to enjoy but also all the space you could need to relax and recharge after emerging from a grey UK winter.

A spring stay at Four Seasons Fairways, Algarve, Portugal

Four Seasons Fairways is incredibly picturesque, it feels like a lovely village of traditional Portuguese homes with splashes of colours of red and yellow paint. The whitewashed buildings reflect the sunshine and with gently swaying palm trees punctuating the view it has a feel-good ambience in every season.

Just 15 – 20 minutes from Faro Airport Four Seasons Fairways is one of those places where you can arrive and immediately relax. With an emphasis on being a home from home the apartments, many of which have private pools, don’t feel overlooked or too busy. The resort feels really safe for families with a gated entrance that is manned 24 hours a day and grounds that are well looked after.

A spring stay at Four Seasons Fairways, Algarve, Portugal – Sleeps

We stayed in one of Four Seasons Fairways two-bedroom apartments with a pool which was a wonderful space for a family to relax in.

We had a main open plan space which contained the kitchen that was really well kitted out with fridge / freezer, dishwasher, microwave and all the utensils we could need.

There was a dining area which was perfect for family meals.

And a lounge area that was lovely to relax in during the evenings – the kids were particularly pleased by the large choice of English tv channels.

We then had a master bedroom which was large and had a really comfortable bed. The room opened on to the decking which was so nice to open the curtains to the sunshine every morning.

There was a large en suite bathroom, television and lots of wardrobe space.

There was a second bedroom which they were able to add a third bed to for the children.

The children had their own bathroom and then there was a third family bathroom.

The decking from the lounge was really large with lovely flowers and fruit trees and best of all our own swimming pool. It was a little too chilly to use in spring but beautiful to sit out next to. There was also our own barbecue to use outside (and you can buy BBQ food kits at Four Seasons Fairways to cook up in your apartment or villa which is a lovely touch).

There was heating when the evenings felt a little chilly and air conditioning for scorching summer days and the whole space felt light and airy and very spacious.

A spring stay at Four Seasons Fairways, Algarve, Portugal – Food

The food at Four Seasons Fairways was lovely and a great treat to enjoy. They have themed nights, an a’la carte menu and also a takeaway service where you can pick up your food so plenty of options.

We really enjoyed our breakfasts at Four Seasons Fairways. All the food is ordered by menu and there are pastries, including the local delicacy of pastel de nata, full English breakfasts and an amazing Eggs Florentine. I love that they have lots of healthy smoothie including those using almond and coconut milk. The children adored the pancakes.

We also ate dinner each night in the restaurant, which is currently being renovated so not in its usual space. The food was wonderful though, some fantastic fish dishes for Mr G and enough vegetarian options to keep me happy.

A spring stay at Four Seasons Fairways, Algarve, Portugal – The resort

There’s lots going on at Four Seasons Fairways which makes it the perfect place for a family holiday. There’s an indoor and outdoor pool (and we loved that here was a heated outdoor pool which was perfect for our springtime visit).

The resort is wonderful at organising activities for their guests and when we stayed there was a brilliant Easter Egg hunt which the children adored.

There are bikes to hire and we found this the perfect way to explore the resort, cycling around the lakes to Ria Formosa and back again.

There’s a gym, spa, tennis courts and daily activities like yoga for you to take part in if you choose to.

Being situated in the Quinta do Lago area meant there were plenty of other nearby activities to take part in too and we loved getting the children horse riding at Pinetrees Riding Centre and having a golf lesson at Pinheiros Altos Golf Resort, just adjacent to the Four Seasons Fairways.

Four Seasons Fairways is a wonderful place for a family holiday. It feels small and safe but with enough going on that you can relax and not feel too on show. The accommodation is well set up for families and staff go out of their way to make the kids feel very welcome and looked after.
