Our trips to the snow are some of our favourites and staying in lovely accommodation really makes a trip shine. Our weekend at the Radisson Blu Resort Trysil was absolutely perfect. Packed with restaurants, great leisure facilities and a ski in / ski out ease it was the perfect base for our week skiing. We loved our time at the Radisson Blu Trysil and it’s somewhere we would love to return to.

Radisson Blu Trysil – Location

The Radisson Blu Trysil is the largest resort in Trysil which in turn is Norway’s largest ski resort.
With 69 slopes and 32 lifts it’s a great area for family skiing. The hotel is set just below the Turistsenter which is where the main ski school is located as well as a number of shops and restaurants.
It’s the perfect location from which to explore the area in summer or winter. The skibus stops outside which you can take to the town or to other areas of Trysil.
Staying at Radisson Blu Resort Trysil
There are a number of different sized rooms at the resort. We stayed in one of their one bedroom suites which had a double bedroom separate to the main living space.

There was then a lounge area which had a sofa bed and another pull down single bed.
The rooms also came with a small balcony overlooking the slopes and the town of Trysil in the distance. It was a great space and perfect for a family of five.

There was also a bathroom with heated floor and a good powered shower.
The bathroom came with some products including shampoo and body lotion (it would be nice if these move to large bottles that don’t get thrown out at some point).
There was a good space in the room to leave snow boots and coats. There was a television, fridge and really usefully a drying cupboard for wet gloves, coats and hats.

The Facilities
This is where the Radisson Blu Trysil really comes into its own. The facilities at the resort are amazing.
There is a very large swimming pool that is warm and great for all ages with different sections. There’s a hot tub, a really fun climbing wall (where you can fall off back into the water and a surfing flow-rider section too.

There’s also a spa where you can have treatments and there’s a Finnish sauna and large relaxation room. This is a great space to really relax in.
The hotel also has its own bowling centre complete with American themed diner. You can hire out a lane for some family games here which is really good fun (make sure you book in advance as it does get booked up).

The hotel has it’s own large skiwear shop attached which is packed full of great clothes and gear.
There’s a lovely lobby at the Radisson Blu Trysil which is perfect for grabbing a drink or just sitting and relaxing in.

One of the great facilities here, if you’re coming to ski, is the very large boot room downstairs.
Here you can store your boots and gear in the lockers (which all operate using your room key).
From this room you can then ski into or out of the hotel making it so easy, especially if you’re travelling with kids

Eating in at the Radisson Blu Trysil
There are so many restaurants at the Radisson Blu Trysil it makes it really easy to eat in.
Breakfast
Breakfast can feel quite busy but there’s plenty of food on offer from pastries and fruits to cheeses and meats.
There were some vegan options and when we asked they brought a whole bowl full of veggie sausages over. There were salad items, porridge and pancakes. Lots to keep everyone happy.

In the evening you can opt for the half board option and have an evening buffet here.
La Piazza pizza restaurant
We ate one evening at La Piazza which is an Italian themed restaurant serving up wood fired pizzas and pasta dishes.
We loved our meal here and watching the chefs hand stretch the dough and cook each pizza to order.
The pasta was delicious as was a really creamy risotto and some fantastic sea bass. This was one of our favourite places to eat in Trysil, ideal for coming together as a family to enjoy.

The diner – Radisson Blu Trysil
Chilli’s Diner is downstairs with the bowling and here you can get burgers and nachos.

There’s a brasserie serving up international food which looked very cosy and full of ambience.
There’s also Mt Mocca a great, cosy coffee shop where you can also pick up sandwiches and cakes and sit and enjoy a coffee for a while.
How child friendly is the Radisson Blu Trysil?
This is a really child friendly hotel that is great for families. Just outside of the main restaurants there’s a really sweet little play room for under nines with a tv which plays cartoons.
Valle is the local ski mascot. A fun, friendly snowman who you can meet out and about on the slopes.
You can also see him at the hotel. He is in the hotel reception and you can also meet him at reception three times a week as he walks through, greeting guests which is always a fun experience for everyone.

The hotel also puts on other themed Valle activities including a cinema night three times a week (complete with popcorn and fizzy drinks) and a Valle birthday party twice a week.
Radisson Blu Resort Trysil – the best bits
We loved our stay at the Radisson Blu.
The space in our one bedroom suite was perfect for the family and easy to pack away all of our ski gear when we were just hanging out.
We loved the views over the slopes from the room (it’s worth checking this as some rooms face the front of the hotel).
Since we were spending the week skiing the ease of skiing in and out was fantastic and so easy to do. All of us loved our stay here and it helped create the perfect wonderful week away.
