Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA

Alabama is one of those US states that often flies under the radar, yet it offers an impressive mix of history, nature, beaches and warm Southern hospitality that works well for families. Known as the โ€œHeart of Dixieโ€, Alabama blends deep cultural roots with a laid-back pace of life, making it an easy and welcoming destination to explore with children. From civil rights landmarks and space exploration to white-sand beaches and wildlife-rich national parks, Alabama offers variety without the overwhelm of bigger states. We had a wonderful trip to Gulf Shores and also really enjoyed the history filled cities of Montgomery and Birmingham.

Alaska feels like the ultimate adventure destination for families who love nature, wildlife and wide-open spaces. Often called โ€œThe Last Frontierโ€, it is defined by vast landscapes, towering mountains, glaciers, long summer days and an incredible sense of wilderness. While it may sound intimidating to visit with children, Alaska is surprisingly family-friendly, especially in summer when the weather is mild, wildlife is active and many attractions are geared towards younger travellers.

Arizona is one of those US states that instantly captures the imagination, offering an unforgettable mix of dramatic desert landscapes, rich Native American heritage and family-friendly adventure. Known as the โ€œGrand Canyon Stateโ€, Arizona blends iconic natural wonders with lively cities and fascinating history, making it an exciting yet surprisingly accessible destination to explore with children. From the vast beauty of the Grand Canyon and the red rocks of Sedona to Wild West towns, cactus-studded deserts and stargazing in some of the darkest skies in the country, Arizona delivers huge variety and adventure without feeling overwhelming.
