A review of Atlantis Aquaventure Dubai water park.
We plunged into the dark, hands tightly gripping the sides of the tube, waters swishing quickly around us. Pushing me and my ten year old son into the ‘Tower of Neptune’ at Aquaventure Dubai.
The water spun us this way and that as we whooshed along through the tunnels. Until at last we spotted light up ahead and suddenly we emerged…into the heart of a shark filled lagoon.

Dubai’s Aquaventure water park was certainly unlike any attraction we had ever visited as a family before.
Fortunately the sharks were safely behind glass. But it felt as though we were right at centre of the fish swimming around the tube along which we were propelled, until at last we were deposited at the end of the ‘shark attack’ ride blinking in the wonderful warm sun.
This family-friendly park certainly had some thrills up its sleeves and there were more to come.

Location of Atlantis Aquaventure Dubai water park
When you first arrive at the site of Dubai’s Aquaventure water park you can be forgiven for thinking you may have reached the wrong place.
The park is situated on the outer edges of Dubai’s Palm Jumerai at Atlantis. Walking in you initially feel like you’re stepping into a grand hotel lobby, through a smart boutique mall filled with high end shops and dining experiences.
Through one of the many corridors off the main intersection the sliding doors draw back to reveal the park ahead of you.
Lazy rivers – A review of Atlantis Aquaventure Dubai water park
The whole park is given over to a wonderful array of lazy rivers, rushing rapids, beaches, areas designated for younger children, or attractions for thrill seekers. There’s so much here to enjoy that although the park attracts hundreds of visitors every day there’s still lots of space. You feel like you can simply relax and enjoy the hours of fun ahead.
We initially headed for the lazy rivers as, we had thought, these would be a good way of getting a gentle start to the park.
We had collected our towels and set up camp at one of the many ‘beach front’ areas.
Next we picked up the free inflatable rings, and life jackets for our youngest, and we headed out into the water.
There are a number of lazy rivers around the park each with differing experiences. And you can take a ride around them at your leisure in the free inflatable rings which are either singles or doubles. These are perfect if you want to take a trip around the rivers with your children alongside you.
Along the way you’ll experience rushing rapids, wave machines and areas where the waters split and take you onto other parts of the park.
Different areas
Each area of Atlantis Aquaventure has its own circular route. So you’ll eventually find yourself back at a beach front where you can either travel around again taking a different route or simply take a break at one of the many neighbouring areas filled with sun loungers and parasols.
If you really want to relax there’s a beach front area too where you can step away from the water park activities briefly and enjoy a chilled atmosphere or join a game of volleyball or beach soccer.
It’s also possible to take a break from the water park to grab some food too. With an easy return wristband system.
Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen
We stepped out to enjoy the absolute delights of Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen just outside the park. With its classic London warehouse chic styled restaurant and relaxed dining outdoors.
It had a stack of British and European dishes. Perfectly sized and delicious.
There was something for everyone here. And enough variety and twists on standards to make for a really excellent lunch.
We felt it hard to pull ourselves away, but there was plenty more to enjoy around the park.
For younger children
In among all the larger rides and slides you’ll find a great space for younger children too. The Splashers’ Kids Play Area is a brilliant soak zone where children can keep cool in the sun and have their own space to climb and explore.
Again there are plenty of places to sit and relax here so it’s a great spot if your kids are happy to run and play.
