Trips to Russia are filled with many delights and the food scene there is fantastic. One of the most interesting restaurants in Moscow to come out of this foodie revival is Khachapuri Moscow. This is a Georgian restaurant chain. This is a great family-friendly place to eat in Moscow with kids and somewhere all the family will love.

About Khachapuri Moscow – A Georgian restaurant
Moscow was full of wonderful surprises for us. It was surprising to meet so many people who wanted to chat and were so friendly and welcoming.
It was surprising to find such a relaxing and fun environment in Gorky Park with giant beanbags and huge candyfloss.
Khachapuri Moscow, a restaurant selling traditional Georgian food, was another lovely surprise. Both in its atmosphere and its wonderful menu.
Khachapuri Moscow, Ukrainsky Boulevard
There are a number of Khachapuri restaurants in Moscow. The one we visited is tucked away off one of the main routes on the Western side of the city.
It’s a 15-minute stroll from the nearest Metro station (Kiyevskaya). So we walked up a good appetite as we wandered through the suburban streets and into a residential area on Ukrainsky Boulevard.
It’s a little off the beaten track. But once we found the restaurant we headed inside and instantly were struck by its relaxing atmosphere.
There are boxes of backgammon games ready for diners to play with. And a pianist sat in the corner at an upright piano gently playing sing-a-long songs.
With a rustic feel inside and a chilled terrace area outside, the whole restaurant had a really wonderful relaxed pace. We instantly felt at home.
The food
Khachapuri proudly boasts a fine selection of Georgian dishes. These include traditional breads, an array of meat and fish dishes and traditional Khinkali dumplings.
There is plenty more besides including hot starters and imaginative salads as well as a generous children’s menu.
This family-friendly eating was a great way to try out lots of different dishes. With a mix of foods which both feel familiar and a little more adventurous too.
We particularly enjoyed super tasty dishes like grilled courgette rings with cress pesto, fried sole with plum sauce, and the salad with baked aubergine and pickled mushrooms.
All of the food we tried were incredibly delicious and cooked to perfection.
We tried the assortment of pickled vegetables including pickled garlic, pickled cabbage, wild leek and vine leaves. This was an acquired taste but interesting nonetheless.
Khachapuri is famed for its Georgian cheese breads after which it is named.
These breads come in a variety of ways with a whole menu of their own. These were a real highlight and definitely not to be missed.
We had cheese khachapuri which was like a soft very cheesy pizza and was quickly gobbled up.
The area
After we’d eaten we headed just a few steps outside to a playground filled with local children enjoying the early evening sunshine.
It was the ideal end to a great meal. Filled with new tasty dishes to try out, a perfect atmosphere and somewhere for all of us to enjoy.

Oh wow, these foods look amazing. I’m reading this really hoping that you’ve been to Copenhagen and written about it. We are off there in October to my Mum’s apartment, we haven’t been since Joni was a baby so have no idea where to go or what to do!
This looks fabulous but I should NOT have looked at it before even having breakfast – my tummy is rumbling really loudly now!
CHEESE BREAD! Oh my goodness. PICKLED VEGETABLES? bring it on. Looks right up my street. Shame it’s a bit far away from me 😉
