Legoland for toddlers and preschoolers (under 5s), Windsor

We love a good theme park and especially one where we can all have fun. Legoland Windsor is definitely one of those places which brings everyone together and there’s something for every age. This review is specifically about Legoland for toddlers and preschoolers (under 5s), Windsor. In Legoland toddlers are certainly catered for and if you’re looking for family outings in Windsor then this theme park should be somewhere to consider. We have researched Legoland for 2 year olds as well as preschoolers.

Legoland for toddlers – tips

First up the park is very large so it’s worth taking your own pushchair. There is Legoland pushchair hire but if it’s easy enough to take your own then it’s advisable.

Skytrain

Our first stop was to the skytrain which we queued for about 20 minutes to get on to.

This was a great first ride, up high and with a great view of the whole park and also the surrounding area. It was great to see Windsor Castle from up there.

Bear in mind that for this, and most of the rides, your child needs to be able to sit next to you and not on your lap.

What’s great about Legoland is that everywhere you walk you come across random LEGO people doing different things which is really fun to stumble across.

Fairy Tale Brook – Legoland for toddlers and preschoolers (under 5s), Windsor

Our next stop was the ride, Fairy Tale Brook which we walked straight on to with no queue.

My two year old absolutely loved spotting the naughty wolf and we all really enjoyed this ride with lots of the classic fairytale characters to spot. From the seven dwarfs to Goldilocks and the three bears.

This was a great boat trip through the favourites.

Atlantis Submarine Voyage

From here we then walked all the way down to the Atlantis Submarine Voyage. Which is suitable for any age.

After around a 20 minute wait we boarded the bright yellow submarines for a special voyage. With real tropical fish swimming past the windows.

There are also Lego divers and treasure to spot along the way too.

Train – Legoland for toddlers and preschoolers (under 5s), Windsor

Next up was a short wait in line in an Indian themed railway station (complete with LEGO snake charmer). This soon brought us round to the Orient Explorer train ride which was another perfect treat for all the family.

This gentle ride around the centre of the park takes in a number of sights near the boating lake and past many of the rides.

It also passes a number of animatronic LEGO animals and creatures. Some of which squirt you with water.

There’s a chance everyone will get wet on this ride, so letting your little ones know beforehand might be a good idea, so that it doesn’t come as an unpleasant surprise (ours loved it).

Other rides

There were other rides along the way we could have taken our two year old on. Driving cars and boats, along with entertainment in the LEGO cinemas and puppet shows. But this really is a park you have to pace yourself in.

There is no way you can do everything in a day so you have to pick your top choices and get your stamina going to try and get around as many as possible.

Pirate show – Legoland for toddlers and preschoolers (under 5s), Windsor

We then took a break from the rides and happened upon the pirate show at the lake.

This was a real crowd pleaser, with dramatic stunts, boo-able baddies and spectacular effects.

It was a really popular show and the whole area around the lakeside Theatre space was packed. You will need to get there early if you want a seat at the front, but bear in mind that you will also potentially get wet during the performance if you sit there. It’s a fast paced and fun show for all ages.

Play areas

Along with the rides and theatre experiences, there are also lots of places for young ones to play.

There are a number of play parks and areas for little children to run, climb and explore. These are great places to catch your breath.

Miniland

The same is true for the miniland area, where model LEGO cars, trains and boats all magically move around tiny towns.

This is really captivating for little ones and a lovely change of pace from the more frenetic activities elsewhere in the park.

We loved this space and while it’s looking a little tired, it’s great to see how you can fire up your imagination with LEGO and really create something spectacular.

Duplo Valley

Somewhere the pace was definitely frenetic is Duplo Valley. Complete with children’s water parks “splash safari” and “drench towers”.

We visited on a particularly hot Saturday and a chance for cooling off our little ones was really tempting.

This area was packed with families, so you will need a close eye on toddlers as it would be easy to lose track of them.

If you’re planning on spending some time here remember to bring swimming costumes, towels and sun cream. You can buy them on site too if you don’t come prepared.

What we thought of Legoland for toddlers and preschoolers (under 5s), Windsor

Our day was packed with fun and we had a car full of happy faces as we left.

Planning ahead and taking some time to think about the activities we wanted to see certainly helped make sure the day was well paced.

There is so much to do at Legoland Windsor that we certainly will be back for more of the rides we enjoyed, and look forward to trying out ones we didn’t fit in this time around.
