20 Top Tips for visiting Legoland Windsor

We loved our time at Legoland Windsor and we have rounded up our top tips for visiting Legoland Windsor to ensure you too can have a great day out. 1. Book your tickets in advance

Booking your tickets in advance can save you up to 25% on the ticket price if you turn up and pay on the day. So it’s well worth doing to save some significant money.

2. Download the App – Top Tips for visiting Legoland Windsor

The Legoland App can really help you plan your day ahead. It will give you live queue times, a planner for the day and special offers on tickets.

You can also register your phone or tablet at home to connect to Wifi automatically when you arrive at the park to save time.

3. Invest in fast passes

If you know you want to go on lots of the big rides consider investing in Reserve & Ride (used to be called Q-Bot) at the Beginning. Or in LEGO City to jump the queues. Bear in mind they are quite expensive.

4. Print tickets at home – tips for LEGOLAND

Get quicker access in to the park by printing your tickets at home and avoid the long queues. This can save a significant amount of time.

5. Look out for the parent’s pass

Legoland offer a parent’s pass on busy days so parents with small children can take it in turns to go on a ride and stay with their child. Check with each ride to see if it’s on offer.

6. Buy a refillable cup – Tips for visiting Legoland Windsor

If it’s a hot day and you’re going to be drinking lots consider buying one of Legoland’s refillable ice drink cups (they last for a year afterwards and you pay much less per drink).

Otherwise take your own cups to fill up in one of the 10 water fountains so you don’t have too many sugary drinks.

7. Get in early – one of our top tips for visiting Legoland Windsor

The rides open at 10 but the park itself opens at 9.30 so try to get there when the park opens and you’ll be ahead of the crowds.

8. Measure your child’s height in advance

It’s always best to measure your children’s height at the start if you want to check which rides they are allowed on and plan your day.

9. Work out where to start your day – Tips for visiting Legoland Windsor

Start your day at Knights Kingdom, Pirate Shores, and Kingdom of the Pharaohs and work your way back through the park. These are the quietest areas of the park in the morning.

10. Don’t forget swimming costumes and a towel

Don’t forget to come prepared if you’re wanting to head to the Duplo splash area which is fantastic and a perfect place to cool off.

There is a shop nearby selling the essentials but much cheaper to remember your own.

If you know you want to spend time in Duplo Valley think about heading there in the morning as it’s busiest in the afternoon.

On the hot afternoon we were there the water park was absolutely jam-packed (not like the photo below).

11. Organise your own food – 20 Legoland Windsor Tips

Food, like any theme park food, is expensive. Take a picnic – there are plenty of places to sit and eat. Miniland has a picnic area and also in Adventure Land there are places to sit.

We managed to perch on one of the tables outside the resort hotel to eat our picnic.

12. If your child is young then take a pushchair.

We hired one there as we didn’t bring ours and really regretted it. The park is huge and even our seven year old sneaked a sit down in it. It was also very useful to push around our bag and picnic.

13. Avoid the wettest rides at the start of the day

This is particularly important if you don’t have towels and a change of clothes. We have friends who did these first on a slightly chilly day and spent the rest of it feeling cold. It’s not worth it.

14. Don’t overlook the shows – another of our top tips for visiting Legoland Windsor

The Pirate show in the centre lake was brilliant fun and the kids loved it. Try not to miss it (you can find show times on all the interactive boards around the park).

15. Don’t worry about carrying your purchases around

If you see something you want to buy you can always pay for it and collect it at the BIG Lego shop at the end of the day.

16. Closing time can be a good time

When the park is getting closer to closing time this is a great time to hit the big rides such as Atlantis Submarine Voyage, Viking River Splash and The Dragon.

17. Leave the right way

When you leave Legoland turn right on the roundabout to avoid the heaviest Windsor traffic that builds up towards the M4. Other routes are signposted.

18. Book a hotel nearby

19. Time your trip to the cinema – Tips for visiting Legoland Windsor

If you are interested in seeing the 4D film, Legends of China, try to get there before 3pm when it’s busiest.

20. Don’t think you can do everything in one day.

It’s impossible. Be realistic about what you want to achieve, picking out the rides that are most important to you and try to enjoy the other bits of Legoland along the way such as the brilliant Miniland.
