A recipe for a sweet & spicy simple winter fruit tart.

Dinner in our home is often an easy affair. But we love to cook as much as possible from scratch and to eat as healthily (and tastily as possible). This simple winter fruit tart is filled with autumn and winter fruits and full of sweet spices. It’s perfect for cheering up any grey day (the ideal way to help beat the winter blues).

This is a perfect dessert for prepping before you head out on a winter walk. Sticking it in the oven as soon as you’re back in for a delicious warming treat.

Or it’s great with pots of tea when friends come over.

Fruit

What’s great about it is every member of the family will love it. It’s super simple to put together and so tasty it looks like much more thought must have gone into it.

Preparing the fruit

Ingredients:

  • Seasonal fruits. We used 6 large dessert pears, a large punnet of plums and a punnet of blackberries. But you can add whichever fruits come to hand. Or ones you and your guests fancy.
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp ginger – we used ground but fresh would give it an even nicer, spicier kick
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Freshly rolled shop-bought shortcrust pastry (unless you have time to make your own)

Love the wonderful Winter tart recipe! I will make it again, however, cut down on the spices (a little goes a long way; use something like 1/4 – 1/2 of recommendation) to have fruit flavor be more prominent. Thank you for sharing this terrific recipe and dish!
