Ribe Byferie Resort, Denmark – our review: On our wonderful summer trip exploring LEGOLAND Billund Resort around Jutland, Denmark with kids we finished up in the beautiful town of Ribe. Ribe is the oldest surviving town in Denmark, dating from the 8th century and the history exudes from every street and every glance. We absolutely loved our time here and if you’re visiting Legoland or Lalandia or in Jutland then a visit to Ribe would certainly not disappoint. We had the perfect stay in Ribe with kids at the Ribe Byferie Resort, just a short walk from the centre of the historic town and packed full of family friendly features.

Location – The perfect stay in Ribe with kids – Ribe Byferie Resort, Denmark

Ribe Byferie is a really quaint little holiday village with houses in the Danish style. This allows you to feel you are living in the town rather than simply visiting.

There’s a lovely community feel with small streets of houses and rivers running throughout and then a large play area and a large communal outside dining area with barbeques and seating.

We thought the feel of the whole resort was safe, friendly and absolutely perfect for families.

Ribe Byferie Resort, Denmark – Sleeps

There are a number of different sized properties at Ribe. We stayed in one of their two bedroom houses which fitted all five of us perfectly.

Downstairs there was a good sized open-plan kitchen, dining area and lounge.

The kitchen was really well kitted out with all the utensils we could need along with a fridge-freezer, dishwasher and oven.

Kitchen

The dining area was a perfect size for family meals and the lounge comfortable with television to relax and watch in the evenings.

Dining area

Also downstairs was the one bathroom with shower.

There was the main bedroom on the ground floor too which was also a really comfortable space.

Bedroom

Upstairs was the children’s bedroom.

The steps up were quite steep but the kids loved climbing up to their little bedroom in the top of the house where three single beds were placed for them.

Off of the main living areas was a small yard with table and chairs. This was ideal to sit out in on hot sunny days.

We loved our little house here, it was the perfect space for a short break and was very clean and comfortable.

Food

The resort is self catering but you could pre-order breakfast including rolls and cheeses etc.

We had the main breakfast offering included as part of our stay and loved the selection of bread, jams, yoghurts and cheese.

Breakfast

You pick the breakfast up from the reception at 8am and bring it back to your house to serve. We all really enjoyed this, especially the kids who loved going to pick it up.

There’s also the large communal barbecue area and the resort supply charcoal and kindling free of charge.

The Resort

Ribe Byferie Resort is perfect for families with lots to really enjoy here.

The kids loved the large play area with a large, outdoor chess set and a big trampoline to bounce on.

The best bit had to be the amazing pirate ship to play on complete with large, life-sized wooden horses to clamber upon. The kids thought this was brilliant.

When you’re staying at Ribe Byferie you have access to a nearby sports centre and swimming pool.

On site there are plenty more things to do including Playstations and table tennis in the main reception. There are bikes to hire on site too (and even canoes if you fancy it).

Ribe Byferie Resort – The Best Bits

We loved our stay at Ribe Byferie Resort. It was the perfect home from home with the added benefit of an amazing playground next door for the kids to burn off all the energy they needed to.

We loved the short stroll from the house into Ribe centre. It took less then ten minutes and was through the beautiful streets of Ribe so it was always such a pleasure to wander it.

Worth Bearing in Mind

There’s not too much to say here.

We visited on a particularly scorching early June so the house felt quite hot. We opened the doors and windows to get a breeze in but it was still very warm. But to be honest, everywhere in Denmark felt unusually hot in the week we visited.

Child Friendly?

I think Ribe Byferie Resort has to be one of the best place to stay in Ribe with kids.

It’s so easy to get to the main sites from the resort and then once back from a day’s sightseeing it’s the best place to run about and have some fun.

Our children at ages six, nine and 11 absolutely loved their stay there, as did we and we hope to return someday soon.
